With the conversion of 25 pickup trucks to natural gas, the Chilean municipality will generate a monthly saving of 40% compared to gasoline. This represents approximately 11 million pesos (local currency) annually that may be allocated to other needs.
In addition, the clean fuel vehicles will stop emitting 18.5 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to planting 1392 trees, thus reducing carbon footprint and helping to mitigate the effects of global warming by cutting greenhouse gases emissions.
As noted by Mayor Raul Torrealba, this measure is an important milestone for Vitacura: “It is a municipality that seeks to be at the forefront and be a pioneer in sustainability. Natural gas is cleaner and cheaper alternative from CNG station, these are reasons why is a significant step to convert our 25 trucks, as it will allow us to reallocate those resources to other needs of the community”, he said.
